Akshay Kumar to Lead Hindi Remake of Telugu Blockbuster 'Sankranthiki Vasthunam'

In September 2025, the Telugu film 'Sankranthiki Vasthunam' became a major box office sensation, grossing an impressive ₹280 crore worldwide and earning the title of the highest-grossing Telugu movie of the year. Now, Bollywood is set to adapt the successful regional hit for a wider Hindi audience.

Akshay Kumar, known for his versatility and impeccable comic timing, will step into the lead role originally played by Venkatesh Daggubati. The Hindi version will be directed by Anees Bazmee, who has previously helmed successful Bollywood remakes like 'Ready'. Bazmee aims to preserve the essence of the Telugu original while tailoring the narrative to appeal to a national audience.

The female leads, Meenakshi Chaudhary and Aishwarya Rajesh, are in talks to join the cast. Production is expected to begin in early 2026 once Kumar completes his ongoing commitments. The Hindi adaptation of 'Sankranthiki Vasthunam' reinforces the growing cultural exchange between Southern cinema and Bollywood, combining regional storytelling with nationwide appeal.
