Filmmaker Priyadarshan and actor Akshay Kumar are collaborating for their ninth film, a departure from their previous comedies. This new project, set in 1960s India, will be a comic thriller centered on wildlife conservation.
Kumar is set to embody a character inspired by the renowned hunter and naturalist Jim Corbett. Initially, the character hunts man-eating tigers and leopards but later becomes a proponent of wildlife protection. His transformation is driven by witnessing the detrimental effects of poaching and deforestation on natural habitats.
To enhance authenticity, Priyadarshan plans to shoot the entire film within forest settings. Pre-production is anticipated to commence in October, with principal photography scheduled for January 2027. The filmmakers are also considering locations in Rajasthan and Gujarat for their recce.
While the movie delves into conservation themes, it will retain Priyadarshan's signature comedic touch. The female lead and other cast details are yet to be finalized, with announcements expected later.
