Akshay Kumar: Comedy is tougher in the age of memes

Actor Akshay Kumar has shared that eliciting laughter has become a more formidable task today, largely due to the pervasive influence of social media content like memes and short comedy reels. Despite these challenges, Kumar is set to star in the upcoming comedy film 'Welcome To The Jungle,' a new addition to the 'Welcome' franchise.

The film's narrative centers on a group of gangsters and unique characters whose encounters in a jungle setting result in a chain of comical and action-packed situations. Kumar expressed that self-deprecating humor is healthier than making fun of others, citing an example from the film where his character is recognized as having starred in flop films.

Kumar also discussed his preparation for playing a faded Bhojpuri cinema star, noting that he studied numerous Bhojpuri songs and performances to capture their vibrant energy and uninhibited style. He reflected on the nature of franchise films, stating that their success ultimately hinges on the quality of the movie itself, rather than its franchise status.
