Akhanda 2 Sequel Confirmed for 2025 Release, Bigger Action and 3D Spectacle Promised

In just over four years, fans of the Akhanda franchise will be treated to a sequel, as Akhanda 2 is scheduled for a major global release on December 5, 2025. This marks the fourth time that Nandamuri Balakrishna and director Boyapati Sreenu have joined forces, following the success of their previous collaborations in Simha, Legend, and the original Akhanda.

The excitement surrounding Akhanda 2 has been building, with the makers recently revealing that the film will be available in both 3D and 2D formats. This news has further fueled the anticipation, as the team has conducted screenings of the 3D version, highlighting the mind-blowing action sequences that will be enhanced by the immersive format.

Adding to the hype, the first song from the film, "Thaandavam," has already been released, with music composed by Thaman S. The song, sung by Shankar Mahadevan and Kailash Kher, is said to infuse the signature energy and devotional elements that have become hallmarks of the Akhanda franchise.

Directed by Boyapati Sreenu, Akhanda 2 will once again star Nandamuri Balakrishna in the lead role, alongside Samyuktha Menon, Aadhi Pinisetty, and Harshaali Malhotra. Cinematography is handled by C. Ramprasad and Santosh Detake, with Tammiraju serving as the editor.

The first Akhanda film, released in 2021, followed the journey of twin brothers born separated at birth: Murali Krishna, a good farmer who fights for the common people, and Akhanda, an Aghora and devoted man from Kashi. When brother Murali gets into trouble with Varadarajulu, Akhanda comes to protect his brother and their family. The film was a commercial success and elevated the franchise's popularity, setting the stage for an even bigger and more intense sequel.
