As of November 14th, 2025, Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar has reportedly demanded a record-breaking salary for his next film with director Adhik Ravichandran. Ajith, who remains one of the biggest stars in the Tamil film industry, has received hefty paychecks in the past and continues to enjoy massive remuneration even now.
Ajith and Adhik Ravichandran previously collaborated on the 2025 film "Good Bad Ugly," which had a reported budget of 200 crores. While the film underperformed, it still managed to become Ajith's highest-grossing movie by a considerable margin and proved successful in Tamil Nadu. This led to plans for another collaboration between the two, but the official announcement has been delayed due to Ajith's salary demands.
According to reports, Ajith is now asking for a remuneration of much more than 150 crores for the upcoming project, a figure significantly higher than the 150 crores he charged for "Good Bad Ugly." While producers initially agreed to pay him around 150 crores, Ajith's demand for an even higher amount has caused them to step back from the project.
It is believed that Ajith's massive pay demand has led several producers to withdraw their interest in the film, as they feel the overall cost of the project, estimated to be 300 crores or more, would make it a financial risk, especially since Ajith's market is not as strong outside the traditional Tamil market.
Currently, Thalapathy Vijay and Rajinikanth are the highest-paid actors in Kollywood, with Vijay reportedly charging above 150 crores for "The Greatest Of All Time" and above 170 crores for his supposedly last film, "Jana Nayagan." Rajinikanth, on the other hand, is said to have charged a staggering 200 crores for "Coolie" and is expected to receive a similar amount for his upcoming film, "Jailer."
As the industry closely watches Ajith's negotiations, it remains to be seen if the superstar will join the league of Vijay and Rajinikanth as one of the highest-paid actors in Kollywood.
