Production company Ex Machina is launching its next television project, an AI science fiction series titled Kira. This ambitious undertaking is entirely AI-generated and will be presented by sales partner K5 International at the MIPCOM market in Cannes this October.
Creation and direction are handled by the French duo Damien Steck and Julien Petit, with Steck also co-writing the script. Marco Weber, co-founder and CEO of Ex Machina, is executive producing. The series' synopsis describes a young girl named Kira on the distant planet Djena, seeking her father amidst evolving landscapes and mysterious factions to bring balance to her world.
Kira follows Ex Machina's previous TV endeavor, Space Nation. Both shows will feature completed pilots for potential buyers at the MIP market. This project also marks Ex Machina's expansion into a theatrical slate, with upcoming films from directors Roger Avary and Alex Proyas scheduled for release in summer 2027.
