Prime Video has secured global distribution rights for "Çukur: Vartolu," a new film from Turkish production house Ay Yapim. This project is a spin-off of the internationally recognized series "The Pit" and is notable for its extensive use of artificial intelligence in production.
The film is the latest offering from AI Yapim, Ay Yapim's AI-focused studio, which previously launched the AI-generated drama "Castle Walls." "Çukur: Vartolu" extends this AI-native approach from an original concept to an established franchise, focusing on the formative years and choices of Vartolu Sadettin.
The narrative follows Vartolu's transformation from a boy named Salih, shaped by loss and street life in eastern Türkiye, to a figure driven by revenge in Istanbul. Despite opportunities for a different life, his past significantly influences his decisions.
Remarkably, every visual aspect of the film, including character appearances and environments, was generated by AI. Human actors performed the scenes, with their movements and expressions then translated by AI onto the generated characters. Human voice actors recorded all dialogue.
