Summary
- Dave Filoni considered making Ahsoka a film initially.
- Ahsoka Tano debuted in the 2008 Clone Wars movie.
- Ahsoka Season 2 is slated for release in 2027.
Dave Filoni, a key figure at Lucasfilm, shared that he once considered developing the acclaimed Disney Plus series "Ahsoka" as a feature film. Filoni, who directed the 2008 "Clone Wars" movie that introduced Ahsoka Tano, found it challenging to shape the character's narrative into a cinematic format early on.
After collaborating with Jon Favreau, Filoni recognized that a series format was more fitting for Ahsoka's story. He emphasized the importance of both movies and series within the Star Wars universe, stating that each medium serves different narrative needs. Ahsoka Tano, Anakin Skywalker's former Padawan, has a rich history across various Star Wars projects.
Ahsoka's journey began in "The Clone Wars" movie and continued through its TV series and "Star Wars Rebels." The character transitioned to live-action in "The Mandalorian" Season 2, portrayed by Rosario Dawson, and later starred in her own series, "Ahsoka." The second season of "Ahsoka" is expected in 2027 and will feature intergalactic battles and the return of Hayden Christensen.
