The latest season of America's Got Talent kicked off with an unprecedented number of Golden Buzzers. Contestants securing this prestigious award instantly advance to the live performance rounds. Among the early standouts was 14-year-old Lai Noelle from Texas.
Noelle captivated the audience and judges with her rendition of Sienna Spiro's 'Die on This Hill.' Her performance was so impressive that judge Simon Cowell swiftly awarded her the Golden Buzzer, a decision that elicited a strong reaction from fellow judge Sofia Vergara.
Vergara playfully accused Cowell of taking away her intended Golden Buzzer moment. She stated she had informed Cowell of her plan to use the buzzer for Noelle. Cowell, however, defended his action, stating that while Vergara had considered it, he felt the performance was so exceptional that he had to act.
Cowell praised Noelle's "spectacular" performance, emphasizing her immense talent and the opportunity the Golden Buzzer provided. The season premiere aired on Tuesday, June 2 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC, promising more incredible acts and potential rivalries.
