The 76th Berlin Film Festival will commence on February 12th with the screening of Shahrbanoo Sadat's film, 'No Good Men.' This German-backed production captures the complexities of life within a Kabul newsroom during the pre-Taliban democratic period, offering a blend of romance and political narrative.
The story centers on a young camerawoman's forbidden romance with her older, married colleague, set against the backdrop of dangerous reporting and daily absurdities. Director Sadat, who was forced to flee Afghanistan in 2021, stated her intention to provide hope and serve as an example for young women.
'No Good Men' is an international co-production involving Germany, France, Norway, Denmark, and Afghanistan. Sadat's previous works, 'Wolf and Sheep' and 'The Orphanage,' also garnered international acclaim at the Cannes Film Festival.
