Garner Said No to Affleck's Movie Offer

Ben Affleck had initially hoped to cast his ex-wife Jennifer Garner in his thriller film 'Animals,' which he co-wrote, directed, and starred in. Affleck believed Garner would be exceptional in the role of his character's wife and that the project would allow them to spend more time with their children due to a week-on, week-off schedule.

The film's production was delayed when Affleck learned of a similar movie being developed by Spike Lee and Denzel Washington. To avoid competition, the project was shelved. Months later, Affleck decided to take the lead role himself after Matt Damon became unavailable. However, Garner declined the part, expressing reservations about bringing their past marital issues into a film about a struggling marriage, stating, "We don't wanna do that. You just get baggage."

Kerry Washington is now set to play Affleck's wife in the film. Despite not working together on 'Animals,' Affleck expressed his continued desire to collaborate with Garner in the future, noting their strong friendship and gratitude for each other. They last shared the screen in the 2003 movie 'Daredevil.'

Affleck and Garner have maintained a positive relationship since their divorce, prioritizing their children's well-being. Garner previously shared that while her marriage didn't end as she envisioned, they remain supportive co-parents, emphasizing that their children's happiness is paramount.
