Summary
- Aerosmith played two all-star augmented shows at the Hollywood Bowl.
- Original drummer Joey Kramer made a guest appearance at the end.
- The band sounded in top form, with Steven Tyler showing no vocal issues.
Aerosmith recently held two highly anticipated concerts at the Hollywood Bowl, sparking discussions about whether these performances mark the band's final shows. The concerts were the group's first since their farewell tour was abruptly cut short over three years ago.
Despite speculation, no official confirmation of a definitive end has been made. However, host Bill Burr cryptically referred to the shows as Aerosmith's "final two shows in history." The band, featuring Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, and Brad Whitford, performed in excellent condition, with Tyler showing no signs of the vocal injury that impacted their previous tour.
Original drummer Joey Kramer, who had taken a health-related break, joined the band for the final number. Initially, Dave Grohl performed on drums, but Kramer later appeared alongside drum tech John Douglas. This arrangement allowed Kramer to be honored while acknowledging his current limitations, marking a compromise for the co-founder's appearance.
These Hollywood Bowl performances, though potentially marking an end, showcased Aerosmith in prime form. The nearly four-hour evening featured a spectacular 45-minute set that demonstrated the band's enduring musical prowess and connection after more than fifty years together.
