Adnan Sami views his birth on August 15, India's Independence Day, as a profound sign of destiny. He initially arrived in India on a one-month tourist visa in the early 2000s with plans to compose an album for Asha Bhosle before returning to London. However, this short visit unexpectedly evolved into a permanent homecoming.

Sami's musical relationship with India deepened significantly as he delved into the country's classical music traditions. He pioneered a unique style by integrating Indian classical music techniques into his piano playing, inspired by the similarities he found between the piano and the santoor, a journey that led him to learn from Pandit Shivkumar Sharma.

He experienced an immediate sense of belonging and warm reception in India, which he had not felt elsewhere. This acceptance fostered a deep emotional connection, leading him to become an Indian citizen in 2016.
