Adnan Sami Slams Remix Culture: "Labels Fear Experimentation"

Singer-composer Adnan Sami has strongly criticized the music industry's excessive reliance on remixes, arguing that it stems from corporate fear of experimentation rather than genuine listener demand. He pointed out a similar trend in cinema, where remakes and sequels dominate. Sami illustrated his concern by referencing the Batman franchise and Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey,' noting that while sequels exist, they shouldn't be the default.

Sami emphasized that while old songs are partially reworked with iconic hooks intact, this practice is becoming the norm in Indian music. He used the analogy of being served 'dry rice' when 'khichdi or biryani' is desired to explain that audiences will consume what's offered but crave more. He also absolved composers, stating they don't aspire to work on remixes and are compelled by those in power.
