The Art Directors Guild's 30th Excellence in Production Design Awards recently celebrated the best in film, television, and theater design. Hosted by Ron Funches, the event saw Apple TV's 'The Studio' and Hulu's 'Mid-Century Modern' take early wins.
The ADG Awards have a strong correlation with the Academy Awards' Production Design category. In 25 of the past 29 years, an ADG winner has also won the Oscar. This trend was evident when 'Wicked' production designer Nathan Crowley received an Academy Award shortly after an ADG win.
Special accolades were presented to filmmaker Jon M. Chu, who will receive the 2026 Cinematic Imagery Award. Rep. Laura Friedman was honored with the President's Award. Additionally, production designer Thomas E. Sanders was posthumously inducted into the ADG Hall of Fame.
Lifetime Achievement Awards were granted to Bo Welch, Jann Engel, Tom Southwell, and Stephen McNally, acknowledging their impactful careers. The guild's extensive membership highlights the broad reach and influence of production design in the entertainment industry.
