Absurdist Classic 'Adding Machine' Revived by Stellar Cast

Elmer L. Rice's 1923 absurdist comedy, "The Adding Machine," a play that foreshadowed the works of Beckett and Ionesco, is currently receiving a compelling revival at The New Group. This production features an exceptionally talented cast of four actors, a stark contrast to the original 20-person ensemble.

Michael Cyril Creighton shines as the narrator, embodying 17 distinct characters, including a dozen dinner guests. His performance evokes a sense of a surreal journey through the play's themes of dehumanization. Daphne Rubin-Vega delivers a striking performance as Mr. Zero, a character who murders his boss and faces consequences in the afterlife.

Jennifer Tilly provides comic relief as Mrs. Zero, offering memorable scenes with her husband.
