The DGA aims to raise a minimum of $500,000 to ensure the scholarship's perpetual support. This fund will facilitate an annual award of $20,000, commencing in the first quarter of 2027, to assist aspiring individuals in the film industry.
The scholarship board includes prominent figures such as Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, and Leonardo DiCaprio, reflecting Somner's significant impact.
