Actor's Secret Love for Cockney Tunes Revealed

A well-known actor has opened up about his personal relationship with music, discussing songs that have profoundly impacted his life. Contrary to his carefully crafted public persona, he admits a secret fondness for the classic British duo Chas & Dave, describing their music as among the best British songs of the last 50 years. This confession challenges his attempts to appear erudite and avoid caricature.

The actor also detailed how music has been a source of confidence and escape. James Brown's 'Sex Machine' was instrumental in his younger years, providing an avenue to overcome shyness and insecurities by losing himself in dance. This song offered a powerful way to break free from self-doubt.

Furthermore, he shared a deeply emotional experience tied to Eric Clapton's 'Tears in Heaven.' Hearing the song while his first child was born, the lyrics about loss resonated intensely, bringing him to tears and highlighting the profound connection between music and personal milestones.

His musical journey also includes formative experiences with George Harrison's 'My Sweet Lord,' early purchases like Rick James' 'Big Time,' party anthems such as Cameo's 'Candy,' and karaoke choices like Etta James' 'I Just Want to Make Love to You.' He also noted Elvis Presley's 'Guitar Man' as a song he inexplicably knows every word to, and described Billie Holiday as a choice for intimate moments, albeit with a humorous caution regarding 'Strange Fruit.' For a cultured morning, he opts for Charles Aznavour, and for his funeral, he would choose Tony Bennett and the Count Basie Orchestra's 'Are You Havin' Any Fun?' The film 'No Ordinary Heist' is currently available and will be on Sky Cinema on June 27.
