In a recent interview, actor Jeremy Allen White revealed the deep connection he forged with music legend Bruce Springsteen while preparing to portray him in an upcoming biopic. The film, titled "Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere," chronicles the making of Springsteen's acclaimed 1982 album "Nebraska" during a pivotal time in his career.
According to White, 34, his initial conversations with the 76-year-old Springsteen proved pivotal in shaping his performance. Springsteen openly shared details about a past panic attack, describing it as a moment where he felt like a "voyeur in his own life." This resonated deeply with White, who said he could relate to that feeling of being an "observer" in one's own existence.
"When he told me that story and made me familiar with that feeling, I knew there was a tether that I could explore there," White explained. This intimate exchange allowed the actor to tap into Springsteen's inner turmoil and struggles as he was on the cusp of global superstardom.
After the film's premiere at the New York Film Festival, Springsteen himself took the stage to thank the cast and crew, singling out White for his exceptional work. "I want to thank [Jeremy Allen White] for putting his whole heart and soul into the part -- just such a wonderful job -- and for playing a much better-looking version of me," Springsteen told the audience.
The biopic, set to hit theaters on October 24th, is expected to provide a raw and haunting look at Springsteen's creative process during the making of "Nebraska," a seminal album that marked a pivotal moment in his storied career.
