Actor Chandan Anand, known for his roles in crime dramas and gangster films, has experienced a significant career and personal shift with the spiritual movie 'Hanuman Ansh'.
For approximately 15 years, Anand has portrayed characters steeped in violence and moral complexity. His new role as Ram Nandan Bhosle in 'Hanuman Ansh' marks a departure, focusing on a revolutionary's spiritual transformation after meeting Neem Karoli Baba.
Anand described the spiritual film as a nourishing 'satvik meal' for his mind and soul, a welcome change from his usual genre. He found the character's journey from atheism to reconsidering his beliefs resonated deeply with his own life.
The film's set, guided by director Vishal Chaturvedi, fostered a disciplined, respectful atmosphere that complemented the spiritual themes. Anand felt this environment merged reel life with real life, enhancing the project's meaningfulness.
Initially approached for a different role, Anand requested to narrate the film, bringing warmth and familiarity to the storytelling. He felt a personal connection, having visited Neem Karoli Baba's temple praying for a Hanuman-related project six months before the film's call.
Anand believes 'Hanuman Ansh' connects with younger audiences through its emotional core, encouraging higher emotions like love and peace. He considers this a fulfilling phase of his career, also venturing into mythology with 'Hastinapur Ke Veer'.
Looking ahead, Anand hopes to portray Hanuman Ji as a superhero. 'Hanuman Ansh 2' is confirmed, promising further exploration of Neem Karoli Baba's life. 'Hanuman Ansh' was released theatrically on August 7, 2026.
