Italian writer-turned-director Ludovica Rampoldi is set to make her directorial debut with the clandestine romance film 'A Brief Affair.' The film, which features a stellar local cast including Pilar Fogliati, Adriano Giannini and Valeria Golino, has already scored a slew of international sales deals ahead of its upcoming premiere at the Rome Film Festival on October 13, 2025.
Blending thriller, drama and romance tropes coated in an overall ironic tone, 'A Brief Affair' tells the story of Lea and Rocco, who meet by chance in a bar and are struck by an instant attraction. As their secret affair unfolds through fleeting, clandestine meetings in a hotel room, Lea becomes increasingly obsessed with Rocco, leading the story in an unexpected and unsettling direction.
Rampoldi, a prominent Italian screenwriter known for her work on acclaimed projects like Sky's 'Gomorra' series and Amazon's 'The Bad Guy,' decided to make her directorial debut with 'A Brief Affair' to explore the complexity of relationships in a very personal way.
