- Directed by Damiana Acuña, a female filmmaker making her feature debut
- Project has gained traction, winning multiple awards at film festivals

In 2025, the Oscar-winning production company Pimienta Films has boarded "Lux Noctis," the latest project from Mexico's Maligno Gorehouse. The film is the feature directorial debut of Damiana Acuña, a rising filmmaker whose work Pimienta has been following closely.
"Lux Noctis" is a fantasy-horror drama set in a remote matriarchal community where women use their power to create light and survive a threatening darkness. The story follows a young woman, Lina, as she forms a forbidden connection with a man, challenging the rules of her world and sparking a rebellion.
Pimienta's Nicolas Celis, who joins as a minority partner, was impressed by Acuña's "sensitivity" and the "depth" of her approach to the story. He believes the project has the potential to transcend the genre and become a work of auteur cinema, an area in which Pimienta has significant expertise.
The film has already gained significant traction, participating in prestigious development programs and winning multiple awards at festivals like Ventana Sur, Sitges, and Cannes. Maligno Gorehouse, the production company behind the project, is dedicated to nurturing a new generation of horror filmmakers with "new visions of the genre."
