Summary
- Damon Cardasis producing musical adaptation of his 2017 film "Saturday Church"
- Cardasis also lead producer on 5-part docuseries about director Martin Scorsese
- "Saturday Church" musical features music and lyrics by Sia

Acclaimed filmmaker Damon Cardasis is currently in the midst of two high-profile projects - a musical adaptation of his 2017 film "Saturday Church" and a 5-part docuseries on legendary director Martin Scorsese.
The "Saturday Church" musical, which follows a New York City teen grappling with his gender and sexual identity, is playing at the New York Theatre Workshop through October 24th. Cardasis wrote the book and lyrics for the show, which features music by Sia. Meanwhile, the Scorsese docuseries, titled "Mr. Scorsese," will premiere later today at the New York Film Festival ahead of its streaming debut on Apple TV+ on October 17th.
Cardasis describes the experience of juggling these two creative endeavors as "crazy, but I think that's what I love and what I thrive off of." The Scorsese project, in particular, was a long-shot initially, as the director had previously turned down numerous requests for a documentary about his life. However, Cardasis and director Rebecca Miller were able to convince Scorsese to participate, leading to an in-depth, three-dimensional portrait of the acclaimed filmmaker.
