Acclaimed Actress to Bring Legendary Tarasundari to Life on Stage

In a highly anticipated theatrical event, acclaimed actress Gargee Roychowdhury is set to take the stage as the legendary Bengali theatre icon Tarasundari. Tarasundari was a trailblazer of Bengal's theatre scene, renowned for her brilliance in both tragedy and comedy, as well as her exceptional singing and commanding stage presence.

Gargee is currently undergoing rigorous training to step into the shoes of this iconic performer. "Tarasundari was not just a remarkable actress but a symbol of courage and grace who refused to bow to social stigma," Gargee said. "Bringing her story to life is my tribute to her indomitable spirit."

The play, titled "Tarasundari," is written and directed by Ujjwal Chattopadhyay, with music and sound design by Prabuddha Banerjee. Gargee's aim is to rediscover Tarasundari's journey, her career, and her defiance of social ostracism. "I only hope to do justice to her legacy," the actress expressed.
