Abnormal Studios, a subsidiary of Westec Media Limited, is showcasing a diverse film lineup at the Asian Contents & Film Market in Busan. Leading their presentation is a Cambodian adaptation of the 2010 South Korean drama 'Wedding Dress.' This new version centers on Dalin, a single mother who redesigns bridal gowns and must confront a terminal illness.
The company's slate also includes "The Hungry One," an upcoming feature from Venezuelan horror director Alejandro Hidalgo, known for hits like "The Exorcism of God." The film follows an American woman whose marriage brings her to Malaysia during the Hungry Ghost Festival.
Further offerings encompass "Ali & Ben's Spicy Meats," a black comedy-horror about friends who create a unique jerky recipe, and the Malaysian sci-fi fantasy "Mimpi Kita: Castle in the Air." The pan-Asian lineup extends to titles like "Because of You Ka Kui," "Next Stop, Somewhere," and Cambodian rom-com "Far Away Close to You."
Abnormal Studios, active since 2020, handles over 400 titles and releases around 100 films yearly. Their distribution spans Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, Mongolia, and Nepal, with recent successes including "How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies."
