The actress, who came out as transgender in January 2021, prepared extensively for the role. She gained over 25 pounds of muscle and underwent training in sword fighting, knife handling, and boxing for the demanding sea battle sequences.
The Battle of the Gullet, depicted as the deadliest naval engagement in Westeros' history, was filmed on elaborate sets, including two ships built within a massive water tank. Thorn described the filming as intense, involving long hours and simulated combat that felt highly realistic.
