Abbey Road Studios is breaking new ground by hosting its first-ever rave in Studio One on February 21st. The event, named Abbey Road After Hours, will run from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. and accommodate 300 attendees. Belgian electronic duo Soulwax has been tasked with curating this world-first experience.
Soulwax, consisting of brothers David and Stephen Dewaele, will present DJ sets under their 2manydjs alias and introduce new material. A highlight will be the debut of the custom-built DEEWEE Soundsystem. The duo will also record brand-new tracks with a live band in Studio Two the day prior, with these recordings to be played during the rave.
This innovative event marks a bold step for Abbey Road, a studio renowned for its rich musical history. Director of Marketing & Creative, Mark Robertson, expressed excitement for this new venture, stating it aligns with the studio's heritage of fostering creativity. Studio One, which reopened last spring after extensive restoration, has recently hosted contemporary artists like Harry Styles and Sam Smith.
