Summary
- Cleaning products and animal feed remain dusty inside the abandoned centre.
- The UK's first SeaLife Centre closed its doors in October 2018.
- Vandalism was noted, including smashed thick aquarium glass, but some tanks remained untouched.

The Barcaldine SeaLife Centre in Scotland, the nation's inaugural marine sanctuary, now stands deserted six years after its closure.
Urban explorer Daniel Sims filmed inside the abandoned facility, revealing cleaning products and animal feed left gathering dust. The centre, which welcomed visitors from 1979, shut its doors in October 2018 due to a significant drop in visitor numbers.
Despite signs of vandalism, including smashed aquarium glass, many tanks and enclosures remain intact. Sims noted a large circular tank still holding water after six years, expressing surprise at the centre's condition.
The sanctuary was once renowned for its otter sanctuary, launched in 2002, and a seal rescue and rehabilitation centre. Its closure was attributed to the high investment required to sustain operations.
