Aamir Khan: I'm a terrible liar, can't fake movie reviews

Actor Aamir Khan recently shared why he largely avoids attending film preview screenings. He confessed to being unable to lie about films he does not enjoy, stating his honest reactions would be evident. Khan finds providing negative feedback just days before a movie's release unproductive, as filmmakers have minimal time for substantial alterations.

Khan explained that filmmakers often invite colleagues for screenings only a week prior to release. He feels this timing makes it impossible to offer any meaningful contribution, potentially just causing distress. He humorously recalled advice from lyricist Javed Akhtar, who suggested saying "You've outdone yourself" as a polite, albeit ambiguous, response to a poor film.

During the event, Khan also advised aspiring filmmakers to remain open to audience criticism during test screenings. He stressed that defensiveness can deter viewers from offering honest opinions. While acknowledging that hearing criticism can be difficult, he emphasized its importance for film improvement prior to its release.
