- Palm Royale boasts a star-studded cast including Ricky Martin, Laura Dern

In a surprising move, legendary comedian Carol Burnett, 92, has joined the cast of Kristen Wiig's Apple TV+ series Palm Royale. The series, which is set to premiere its second season in about a month and a half, boasts an impressive lineup of stars including Ricky Martin, Laura Dern, Josh Lucas, and Allison Janney.
However, the most remarkable name on the call sheet is undoubtedly Burnett, whose iconic sketch comedy series The Carol Burnett Show ran for 11 seasons on CBS starting in 1967. Burnett, who has also appeared in numerous films, plays Wiig's nearly dead aunt-in-law in the gold-digging, Florida-based comedy.
Wiig, a former Saturday Night Live cast member, was deeply moved by the opportunity to work with Burnett. "When I met her, I just fully cried," Wiig confessed to her former SNL co-star Amy Poehler. "I was not expecting it... Except for when my kids were born and I saw them and I cried, I can't remember a time when I just, I didn't think I was gonna cry, and then it just, like, burst out of my eyes."

Despite her advanced age, Burnett remains active in the industry, having also appeared on an episode of the series Hacks earlier this year.
