An obscure gem from the 1990s, Larrison Seidle's "Connectors Vol. 1: Original Recordings, 1992-1999," has been unearthed. Seidle, who resided in Indiana before moving to Austin, submitted his Casio-based music to the local zine ND but never received a response. The album's existence was unknown until Freedom to Spend sorted through 1,200 demo tapes submitted to the zine over the years.
The reissued compilation features short, evocative songs composed entirely on a Casio CZ-5000. This sophisticated keyboard, known for its phase distortion capabilities, allowed Seidle to craft unique timbres. The music is described as a delightful, plinking collection, reminiscent of early experimental artists.
"Connectors Vol. 1" also includes additional home recordings made by Seidle throughout the 1990s. Song titles like "Ice Planet" and "Water Montage" hint at the evocative, abstract soundscapes within. The music draws inspiration from nature documentaries and the quirky library music soundtracks of the era.
