Church Tower Reborn: £500,000 Heritage Grant Awarded

A £500,000 grant has been awarded to the Friends of Nash and Boraston Churches for essential repairs to St John the Baptist church in Nash, Shropshire. The funding from the National Lottery's Heritage Fund will facilitate the rebuilding of the church's tower, steeple, and a section of its nave roof.
Church warden Bobbie Matulja highlighted that the money, secured after a decade of effort for churches on the heritage at risk register, will also support community projects. These include reusing building materials, restoring a Jacobean table, and constructing bird and bat boxes.
Additionally, the funds are designated for developing a new website and improving the visitor experience, aiming to foster greater community engagement with the medieval building. Further grant applications are planned for enhancements to the kitchen and toilet facilities.
