Out in Hollywood has unveiled its 2026 Out Loud List, recognizing outstanding un-produced queer-focused pilot scripts. This marks the sixth installment of the initiative, a collaboration with Gersh and sponsored by Writ Large. The chosen writers will be honored at a special reception in Los Angeles.
The list features scripts that underwent a rigorous selection process. Professionals within the queer entertainment community nominated submissions, which were then blind-reviewed by the Out Loud Hollywood board and guest producers. A queer storytelling lens, adapted from GLAAD's Vito-Russo Test, was used in evaluation.
This year's selections showcase a wide array of genres, including science fiction, crime, thriller, coming-of-age stories, comedy, and drama. The diverse range of pilots aims to reflect the full spectrum of queer experiences and imaginations, underscoring the importance of these voices in shaping culture and pushing narratives forward.
Notable scripts include "CURANDERA" by Roberto Fatal, a supernatural mystery set in a California barrio; "CUSP" by Oliver Warren, about queer runaways and a reluctant academic; and "HELL ON EARTH" by Shantira Jackson, a unique take on bringing Black people to heaven. Other selections explore themes of identity, relationships, and societal truths in contemporary and speculative settings.
