Unreleased 1994 Fantastic Four Film Demands Official Release

An unreleased 1994 Fantastic Four film, directed by Oley Sassone and overseen by Roger Corman, is making headlines 30 years after its production. Despite a modest $1 million budget and perceived low-quality effects, the film is appreciated by some for capturing the comic-operatic tone of the original 1960s comic books. Initially only available through bootleg VHS tapes, the film has gained wider visibility via the internet and is now modestly beloved. Recently, on the occasion of the film's 30th anniversary in 2024, actor Joseph Culp, who portrayed Doctor Doom, issued an open letter to Marvel Studios. Culp urged Marvel to grant the 1994 film an official release, coinciding with news of a new Fantastic Four movie, "The Fantastic Four: First Steps," released in 2025. Culp contends that Marvel's decision to ignore the existence of the 1994 film has adversely affected the Fantastic Four franchise.
