21 Jul
Summary
- Josh Johnson, a Daily Show correspondent, will host the show Tuesday through Thursday this week
- Johnson has been with the show since 2017 and is a stand-up comedian
- The Daily Show has seen a hosting rotation since Jon Stewart's return in 2024

In a shake-up of The Daily Show's hosting duties, correspondent Josh Johnson will be taking over the reins for the Tuesday through Thursday editions of the show this week. This marks the first time Johnson has served as the host, though he has been a part of the show's team since 2017, joining the writing staff that year after a stint at NBC's The Tonight Show. Johnson, who is also a stand-up comedian with two specials to his name, has been a correspondent on The Daily Show for about a year and a half. His hosting stint comes as part of a new rotation that has seen Jon Stewart return to the show in February 2024, hosting one episode per week, typically on Mondays, along with a Thursday podcast called The Weekly Show. The remaining three installments have been hosted by a rotation of correspondents, including Ronny Chieng, Jordan Klepper, Michael Kosta, and Desi Lydic. The scheduled guests for Johnson's hosting stint this week include author Rob Franklin, singer Samara Cyn, and actor Christopher McDonald. The Daily Show and its related programs are also up for a combined 12 Emmy nominations this year, the most in the show's history.
