Local officials are advising residents to prepare now for tropical weather conditions that could arrive as early as Monday, September 29th. The storm is currently located about 155 miles northwest of eastern Cuba and 115 miles south of the central Bahamas, with maximum sustained winds of 35 mph.
The system is forecast to move north-northwestward through the weekend and approach the Southeast US coast early next week. Potential impacts include tropical storm-force winds that could down trees and cause power outages, heavy rainfall of 4-6 inches on average with isolated totals up to 10 inches, and storm surge flooding in low-lying coastal areas.
