The closures follow a similar pattern from Friday, December 5, when winter weather also disrupted school operations.
School officials cited safety concerns, particularly for student drivers and staff, due to the anticipated snow coinciding with bus routes and low temperatures. While classes are canceled, some administrative meetings in Staunton are expected to proceed as scheduled. Extracurricular activities and events have also been suspended across the affected divisions.
Beyond K-12 schools, Blue Ridge Community College will also adjust its schedule, delaying its opening until 11 a.m. on December 8. Students with early morning final exams are advised to check their emails for information regarding rescheduled exams. Twelve-month employees in Staunton and Augusta County will also have altered reporting times.
