Uttarakhand Drenched: Rain to Continue Through Mid-June
11 Jun
Summary
- Light to moderate rain and thunderstorms forecast for most districts.
- Higher altitudes may experience snowfall alongside rain.
- Western Disturbance continues to influence weather patterns.

Dehradun and several other districts in Uttarakhand are set to experience a prolonged spell of wet weather, with light to moderate rain and thunderstorms anticipated through June 17. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of potential lightning and gusty winds across the state.
Higher altitude regions, specifically those above 4,400 meters, may even witness snowfall in addition to the ongoing rain and thunderstorm activity. This prediction follows heavy showers on Wednesday that provided much-needed respite from the prevailing heat in Dehradun.
The prevailing wet conditions are attributed to a Western Disturbance influencing weather across Northwest India. This disturbance is expected to bring widespread rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds to several North Indian states, including Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan, until June 14.
As the week progresses, rainfall intensity will vary. June 12 and 13 are expected to see significant activity in higher hill districts, while other areas might receive isolated showers. From June 15 to 17, northern districts are forecast to continue experiencing rain, though southern districts may become drier.
