As of November 9th, 2025, Uttar Pradesh is in the grip of a prolonged cold spell, with temperatures across the state falling sharply and no significant change expected in the coming week.
The recent weather patterns, including a western disturbance and cold, dry winds from the snow-covered western Himalayas, have led to a significant drop in both maximum and minimum temperatures. Several cities in Uttar Pradesh have recorded minimum temperatures well below the seasonal average, with Etawah seeing the lowest temperature of the season at 8.4°C, around 6.3°C below normal.
Other cities have also experienced a chill, with Kanpur, Bulandshahr, Bareilly, and Prayagraj all registering minimum temperatures 4 to 6 degrees Celsius below average. In the state capital of Lucknow, the minimum temperature was 13.6°C, while the maximum settled at 28.1°C, both lower than usual.
According to the Lucknow Meteorological Office, the cold spell is expected to continue for at least the next week, with minimum temperatures likely to remain 2 to 4°C below normal and maximum temperatures 1 to 3°C below average. As a result, residents of Lucknow and other parts of Uttar Pradesh have been seen bundling up in warm clothing to brave the chilly winds and low temperatures.
