US and India Brace for Extreme Winter Storms

Winter weather has intensified across continents, with both Northern India and the United States facing severe conditions. In India, mountain regions are experiencing their first snowfall of the season, accompanied by a notable drop in temperatures across the northern plains. The India Meteorological Department forecasts nighttime temperatures to fall between six and eight degrees Celsius.

Concurrently, a colossal winter storm is sweeping across the United States, extending approximately 1,500 to 2,000 miles from Texas to New England. This system is expected to bring significant snow, ice, and extreme wind chills, prompting states of emergency in at least 17 states and Washington D.C.

Travel has been severely impacted nationwide, with over 5,000 flights canceled and major airports experiencing significant disruptions. Southern cities are particularly vulnerable to dangerous ice accumulation, while snow is expected to blanket areas from the southern Rockies to the Northeast. Millions of Americans are at risk of power outages.
