Summary
- Gusty winds and thunderstorms provided respite from heat across Uttar Pradesh.
- An orange alert for hailstorms was issued for 27 districts in the state.
- Temperatures are expected to drop by 5-7 degrees Celsius in two days.

Uttar Pradesh experienced significant weather changes on Friday, with gusty winds, thunderstorms, and rainfall providing a welcome respite from high temperatures. This wet spell, initiated by an active western disturbance, began Thursday evening and is forecast to persist into Saturday, affecting eastern Uttar Pradesh, central regions, and Bundelkhand.
An orange alert has been issued for hailstorms in approximately 27 districts, including key areas like Fatehpur, Kannauj, and Meerut. The meteorological department predicts a 5-7 degree Celsius drop in temperatures within the next two days due to the ongoing weather activity. Cities like Lucknow recorded moderate rainfall, with temperatures falling sharply.
Maximum temperatures across most of the state remained considerably below normal, with western districts seeing the most dramatic drops. For instance, Muzaffarnagar registered a maximum temperature of 17.8 degrees Celsius. Conversely, minimum temperatures showed a mixed trend, generally staying above normal in many districts.
The weather phenomenon is attributed to an active western disturbance and cyclonic circulations. Thunderstorms, lightning, and winds of 40-60 km/h, along with isolated hailstorms, are anticipated. Authorities have advised caution due to the potential for lightning and strong winds.
