Uttar Pradesh is currently facing a dynamic weather situation, with severe heatwave conditions in some areas and forecasts of rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds in others. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for June 27, warning of lightning, thunderstorms, and winds up to 50 kmph in several eastern districts.
Conditions are favorable for the southwest monsoon to advance into Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand within the next three to four days. Increased rainfall activity is anticipated from June 29 onwards, which is expected to significantly lower temperatures and alleviate the ongoing heatwave across the state.
In the past 24 hours, Prayagraj recorded the state's highest maximum temperature at 43°C. Meanwhile, Gorakhpur experienced the lowest minimum temperature at 23.3°C. Cities like Lucknow and Kanpur are expected to remain under intense heat for the next two days before potential relief from June 29.
Noida and Ghaziabad may see partly cloudy skies, dust storms, and light evening rain on June 27, with stronger monsoon activity expected from June 30. The IMD advises residents in heat-affected areas to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged sun exposure, and those in thunderstorm-prone regions to seek safe shelter during bad weather.
