Uttar Pradesh is currently under an active monsoon spell, with widespread rainfall continuing across many parts of the state. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that this wet spell will persist until September 5, bringing much-needed relief from rising temperatures.
A fresh western disturbance is expected to enhance rainfall activity from Monday, August 31, increasing the likelihood of showers and thunderstorms. Eastern Uttar Pradesh is particularly vulnerable to heavy to very heavy rain, accompanied by lightning. The IMD has issued an orange alert for five districts, including Prayagraj, Chitrakoot, Mirzapur, Chandauli, and Sonbhadra, forecasting very heavy rain with thunder and lightning.
Yellow alerts have been issued for numerous other districts, anticipating heavy rainfall. While some western areas like Noida and Ghaziabad may experience drier conditions, recent rainfall has already caused temperatures to drop. The IMD Lucknow center predicts that eastern Uttar Pradesh will receive more substantial showers compared to western parts. The overall pattern is expected to continue for the next few days, with a likely reduction in maximum temperatures by 2-4 degrees Celsius.
