Summary
- Strong winds are forecast across multiple UK regions starting Thursday morning.
- Gusts of up to 70 mph are expected in exposed coastal and high ground areas.
- A Yellow alert for wind was issued by the Met Office on Wednesday morning.

Several regions across the UK are bracing for strong winds as a Yellow alert for wind has been issued by the Met Office. The warning covers large parts of Central, Tayside and Fife, East Midlands, Grampian, North East England, North West England, SW Scotland, Lothian Borders, Strathclyde, Wales, West Midlands, and Yorkshire and Humber. The hazardous conditions are set to begin on Thursday at approximately 5 am and are expected to continue throughout the day until 8 pm.
Forecasters predict widely occurring gusts of 50-55 mph due to an active weather front moving southeastwards across the UK. More exposed areas, particularly coastal locations and regions situated downwind of high ground, could face even stronger gusts, potentially reaching 60 mph or even 70 mph in a few specific places. The winds are anticipated to gradually ease from the north as the day progresses.
