UK Heatwave Returns: Get Ready for 26C Sunshine!

A period of high pressure is forecast to bring a warm spell across the UK in the coming days, with temperatures potentially reaching 26C, especially in the South East. This is due to an area of low pressure west of the UK dragging warmer air from the continent and the subtropical Atlantic.

However, the weather will not be uniformly pleasant. While Monday is expected to be dry and sunny in southern areas, northern and western regions may see increasing cloud and patchy rain. On Tuesday, Scotland and Northern Ireland can expect a mix of cloud, brighter spells, and rain as a cold front moves southeastward.

From Wednesday, the forecast becomes more uncertain as several weather fronts approach. Deputy chief forecaster Tony Wisson highlighted potential heavy rain, particularly in eastern and southeastern Scotland and parts of northern and northeastern England. Cooler air moving in from the North West could lead to localized air frost on Wednesday night into Thursday.

Thursday is predicted to have long sunny spells for much of England and Wales, though the far North West might experience strong winds. Temperatures in London could reach around 22C. Friday is expected to see clouding over again with light rain moving south, continuing the trend of unpredictable weather.
