25 Feb
Summary
- Temperatures in parts of the UK could reach 17C in early March.
- This is warmer than predicted temperatures in Zante, Greece.
- The UK can expect changeable weather with rain and possible snow.

Unseasonably warm temperatures are forecast for the UK at the start of March, with weather models predicting highs that could exceed those in popular European holiday spots. Parts of southeast England, Gloucestershire, and South Wales may see temperatures climb to 17C on March 6, while much of southern, central, and eastern England could experience 16C. Even parts of Scotland might reach this warmth, with the north-west of England expected to hit 15C.
These predicted temperatures for March 6 and 7 are significantly above the seasonal average, with some areas shaded deep red on anomaly maps. For comparison, Zante, Greece, is forecast to only reach 16C during the same period. However, the Met Office cautions that the weather will remain changeable. Atlantic frontal systems are expected to bring rain, heaviest in the northwest, with drier interludes possible in eastern areas. Snow may occur on higher northern ground, and strong winds with a risk of gales are also anticipated. Temperatures are likely to be near or slightly above average overall.
