Fresh weather warnings have been issued for the southwest of England, signaling a risk of ice and further rain. This follows recent flooding caused by Storm Chandra. Overnight temperatures are expected to drop below freezing, particularly in Devon and Cornwall, leading to icy conditions on roads and pavements. Following the ice warning, a further alert for heavy rain and potential flooding will commence on Monday afternoon. Up to 50mm of rain is forecast for Dartmoor, with widespread accumulations expected across Devon, Cornwall, Dorset, and Somerset. There is a risk of homes and businesses being flooded, and fast-flowing water could pose a danger to life.

This forecast comes after Storm Chandra caused significant disruption the previous week, leading to school closures and impacting around 50 properties in Somerset. Meteorologists advise caution as the region prepares for continued unsettled weather after a wet January.
