UK Heatwave Breaks: Cooler Temps and Showers Arrive

The current UK heatwave is set to diminish in intensity over the coming days, ushering in a transition to more unsettled and cooler weather by the weekend. Peaks of 32C and 28C are still possible on Thursday and Friday, respectively, before temperatures generally move closer to seasonal averages. This shift will bring more changeable conditions, with some showers and thunderstorms expected.

By Sunday, a notable temperature drop is anticipated, particularly in Scotland, where lows could fall to around 5C. Maps indicate temperatures across Scotland, England, and Wales will range from 7C to 11C by early Sunday morning. However, temperatures are expected to rise later in the day, reaching the mid-teens by 1pm.

Looking ahead to the first week of June, the forecast anticipates Atlantic weather systems bringing showers or longer spells of rain, especially to western and northwestern areas. Drier conditions are more likely in the south and east. By the second week of June, drier weather may become more dominant, with temperatures expected to be near normal. Breezy conditions, particularly on western coasts, are also predicted.
