UK Heatwave Alert: 26C Scorcher on the Way!
25 Apr
Summary
- Southern England to experience 26C temperatures on May 5.
- Hottest day of the year so far reached 26.6C in London.
- Later May could bring more rain and cooler temperatures.

Temperatures in the south east of England are forecast to reach 26C by May 5, potentially rivaling the hottest day of the year. This follows a period of spring sunshine across much of the UK. However, unsettled weather with rain is expected at the end of April before high pressure returns.
A notable north-south divide is anticipated, with southern England expected to see highs in the mid-20s Celsius, while Scotland could experience single-digit temperatures. Counties like Essex and Kent are predicted to be the warmest.
Despite the upcoming heat, the Met Office suggests that conditions may become more changeable into the first week of May, with an increased likelihood of showers and strong winds. The latter half of May could also see more rain and temperatures closer to or below average, though a return to drier, warmer conditions is possible later in the month.
