Britain braces for 30C heat: Warmest spring ahead?

The possibility of Britain reaching 40C this summer is considered a 50/50 prospect. Such extreme temperatures would require sustained southerly airflow, dry ground conditions, and a preceding period of warm weather lasting at least a week.
